This weekend sees a lot of tight fixtures and Genie has found value in the most unusual place; at Upton Park. West Ham are an improving unit and, having watched the display against Portsmouth on Tuesday night they really are living up to the ‘United’ part of their name. The players are obviously all playing hard for their manager, Gianfranco Zola, and recent good fortune in the form of business angels Messrs Gold and Sullivan means that this club will be on the rise very shortly.
In recent weeks West Ham have been performing admirably. Recent good home performances against Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth desrved more than the 4 points they got but, as often in betting, you need to look beyond the result and drill down the performance.
The back 4 has become a solid unit with Matthew Upson playing as well as he ever has and ably assisted by Tomkins, Spector and the old warrior Kovac. West Ham fans won’t be looking behind them for very much longer as I fully expect them to pull away from the relegation battle.
This weekend they take on a brutal (in every sense of the word) Blackburn side that have only take 5 points from 11 away games this season. With a style of football befitting a Sam Allardyce team they are at times so ugly that a mother couldn’t love them. Add into the mix the fact that they have sold their best player to West Ham and need I say more. If Benni McCarthy does start then one could do worse than having a punt on him to score first at 9/1 (don’t put your money down until you see the teamsheet).
Carlton Cole is coming back from injury and Benni should serve as an able accomplice along with the very talented Diamanti. Expect a big performance from the Happy Hammers and a comfortable 2-0 win against a toothless Blackburn side.
