Cheltenham Ladbrokes World Hurdle

Genie · March 15, 2010 ·

Big Bucks is the Cheltenham Festival’s biggest banker this year with a best price of 8/13 available with Paddy Power. Having won the Ladbroke’s World Hurdle last year, the champion is back to reclaim his throne. The 3 mile grade 1 hurdle is over 3 miles and the prize money on offer in 2010 is £260,000. Online betting firms offer excellent free bets to new users. Details are listed at the foot of the article.

Big Bucks Double?

The Paul Nicholls trained 7 year-old will be ridden by Ruby Walsh once again and has been going from strength to strengh since winning at last year’s festival at a juicy 6/1. Hindsight vision is 20/20 of course but this horse really does look as close to unbeatable coming in to this year’s race. Recent wins at Newbury in November and December reemphasised the gulf in class between Big Bucks and the rest.

Genie has looked at the form and there are no worthy challengers to the throne. Big Bucks jumps like a salmon and is tried and proven is all kinds of ground and weather. Karabak ran a brave race at Newbury in December, coming second to Big Bucks but even AP McCoy won’t be able to find the extra 2 gears needed to really challenge. Tidal Bay is coming off the back of a win at the Betfair Cleeve Hurdle on the track in January but the truth is that this race is 2 years too late for the once great hurdler. Both are currently available at 7/1 with Paddy Power.

In summary there are 2 races going on here; The first is how many links will Big Bucks win by? The second is who will win the ‘best of the rest’. Genie’s answer to the first one is between 6 and 8 and the ‘best of the rest race’ should be won by Karabak .

World Hurdle Betting

Current race odds from Paddy Power are:

8/13 Big Bucks
6/1 Karabak
7/1 Tidal Bay
14/1 Sentry Duty

20/1 Cousin Vinny

33/1 Powerstation
33/1 Lie Forrit

Cheltenham Queen Mother Champion Chase

Genie · March 14, 2010 ·

The Cheltenham Queen Mother Champion Chase field for the festival in 2010 is headed by Master Minded who is best priced 5/6 with Paddy Power. Expect about 12 runners to line up for the the 2 mile, grade 1 encounter this year. You have probably all set up your new online betting accounts by Wednesday but if you haven’t already done so then check out the free bets available to Geniebet readers at the base of the article.

Master Minded Hat-Trick?

Paddy Power are boldly taking the favourite on at this early stage despite strong signals from trainer Paul Nicholls that the horse might be back to his best form when he destroyed the competition in this very same race. With Ruby Walsh on board he is looking to go down in history with a hat-trick of wins against what is once again a very competitive field. 5/6 does seem like an appealing proposition when you consider that this horse went off at 4/11 just 1 year ago and has shown no dip in form since then. The only question mark over Master Minded remains when the ground is heavy so expect the price to drift if the rain is falling. In the November Cheltenham meeting he ran a bad third in a 6 horse race, finishing one paced and well behind eventual winner Well Chief. Nicholls was quick to dismiss the result, putting it down to a rib injury that needed 6 weeks rest and all is 100% again according to the Champion Trainer.

If you are looking to oppose the favourite in this race then Genie would recommend looking no further than Big Zeb at 9/1.The Colin Murphy trained journeyhorse is a tough nut and has shown steely resolve in the past when the going gets tough. The 9 year-old underperformed badly in this race last year with Robert Thornton onboard (fell at the 9th). Barry Geraghty has been the jockey of choice since then and 3 wins in the past 5 races suggest that this is a horse whose form is certainly not diminishing.

Victory might be one step too far for Kalahari King, Twist Magic and Forpadydeplasterer unless Masterminded is a faller. Big Zeb loves a fight and if Geraghty can keep within touching distance for the last few furlongs then his chances are real.

In summary Genie thinks that the smart money is on Master Minded in this race but for those looking for a bigger price, you would be well advised to pick Big Zeb as the ‘best of the rest.’

Queen Mother Champion Chase Betting

Current race odds from Paddy Power are:

5/6 Master Minded
9/2 Kalahari King
7/1 Twist Magic
8/1 Forpadydeplasterer
9/1 Big Zeb
16/1 Petit Robin
28/1 Barker
33/1 Well Chief

That wraps up Genie’s guide to online betting on the Cheltenham Queen Mother Champion Chase. I’ll be glued to the screen at 3:20 on St Patrick’s Day, biting my nails and washing it down with a pint of stout as I hopefully watch Masterminded complete the hat-trick and romp to victory. Dunguib Form & Cheltenham Money Back Special Offers

Genie · March 13, 2010 ·

Dunguib heads into this year’s Cheltenham in top form and is ranked as one of the festival’s hot favourites. He is currently available with Paddy Power at 10/11 to win the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle who are also offering a generous money back special offer if Dunguib wins the race.

Don’t let Paddy Power’s stance fool you. All racing experts of note are unanimous in agreeing that this horse has at least a 50% chance of winning the race so there will be a lot of sweat spilled on the PP racedesk around 13:30 on Cheltenham Tuesday.

Dunguib was bred by Liam Meade and is trained by the great, Philip Fenton. BT O’Connell is Fenton’s jockey of choice when it comes to riding his stable star. With 8 wins from 9 starts to date, On Raglan Road has the honour of being the only horse to finish ahead of Dunguib to date.

Expect Dunguib to be immaculately prepared for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, with nothing but positive vibes coming from the camp and a host of strong performances in the past year. The only real concern would be if the ground was particularly hard but this looks like an extremely unlikely occurrence at this point.

Current race odds from Paddy Power are:
10/11 Dunguib
4/1 Get Me Out Of Here
9/1 Oscar Whisky

They are offering cashback on win singles as well as the win part of each way singles. Genie is tipping Menorah as the best value bet. Paddy’s are also offering Geniebet customers a €20 free bet when you open an account today and bet just €10 for your first bet.

Betting Ireland

Genie · March 8, 2010 ·

Betting in Ireland

The two words betting and Ireland are synonymous and you’ll find one or more Irish bookies in every town across our green isle. Ireland has a long history of successful horse racing training, breeding and riding and part of the culture includes having a flutter, however small, at the cheltenham festival each year.

Paddy Power are leading the way in the online betting world and employ around 2000 staff, and growing. The Paddy Power machine shows no signs of stopping either and continues to grab the headlines for their excellent marketing campaigns and publicity stunts. More importantly though, when you look past the stunts and the laughs you’ll see the only company currently in the industry who have got some cash to spend. If the US market were to loosen up it’s gambling legislation then there can be no doubt that the green giant that is Paddy Power will make it’s move, both quickly and strongly.

Following a decision by the Australian government to legalise advertising of online gambling Paddy Power took over the second largest betting company in Australia; Sportsbet. One year on and they are already the largest and are growing at a rate never before seen in Australia. Streuth. Within  few years they’ll have sewn up the majority market share in a country that has a booming economy, a growing population and, above all, a sports mad population that loves to have a bet.

Betting Ireland

In the online betting space the future is bright. The future is green. Betting in Ireland is as strong as ever, even in recessionary times. Online betting trends suggest that, although the average stake is falling, the amount being bet is greater due the a large increase in the volume of bets placed. Due to the lower costs of online betting transactions Paddy Power, and their competitors, offer free bets as incentives to customers to start betting from home or the office. With Cheltenham just around the corner expect to hear much more from the Paddy Power machine.
